We recently made two custom letter-shaped awards for a client, including this one featuring the letters “TWGi” on a black gloss wooden base.
The letters were cut from acrylic and then sandblasted to give them a frosted finish. This creates a nice contrast between the softer, matt appearance of the lettering and the glossy black base.
The award is approximately 125mm tall and was finished with a gold Rowmark plaque engraved with the recipient’s name, a title and a personalised message.
A Different Kind of Award
What made this project interesting was that the design wasn’t based on a standard trophy shape. The acrylic letters were the main feature, with the base and engraved plaque bringing everything together.
We often work on projects where the customer has a specific idea in mind, whether it’s a set of initials, a company logo, a particular shape or something that wouldn’t normally be found in a trophy catalogue. Acrylic works well for these designs because it can be cut into custom shapes and finished in different ways.
