There’s something special about handing out an award that was designed specifically for the event. These custom acrylic trophies were created for an automotive client looking for something unique that reflected the different categories being judged, rather than using standard off-the-shelf awards.
At Helium Design, we designed and manufactured each trophy from scratch at our workshop in Edenvale, South Africa. Every award features its own custom vehicle illustration, making each category instantly recognisable while keeping a consistent look across the entire range.
The finished trophies stand at around 200mm tall, giving them plenty of presence without being oversized. Each one was laser cut from clear acrylic before being laser engraved, producing crisp white artwork that won’t scratch off or fade over time. They were then mounted onto a layered base made from frosted acrylic with a black acrylic top, giving the awards a clean, modern finish.
The event included a wide range of categories, from Modified and Tuned, Wash and Wax, and Best Engine Bay, through to Luxury and Prestige, Muscle Car, Supercar and Exotic, 4×4 and Offroad, and several club recognition awards. Rather than simply changing the wording on each trophy, every design was individually illustrated to suit its category, making the awards feel far more personal for the winners.
One of the things we enjoy most is that projects like these don’t have to be limited to automotive events.
